Hi, I’m Celine, founder of My Flight Academy. I’m an FAA-certificated CFI and ground instructor, and I specialize in aeronautical knowledge education and curriculum design.
After earning my certificates, I flew professionally across the country in a Cessna 182, and I bring that real-world VFR general aviation perspective into my teaching.
Honestly, even during my own training, I wasn’t given real reading assignments or introduced to the range of FAA publications. I had to learn that on my own. When I started instructing, I ended up working with students who needed a retest, or who were struggling to reach exam readiness.
That’s when I noticed the same pattern… students were drifting away from reading and leaning almost entirely on video summaries. Don’t get me wrong, videos are an amazing tool and can be very helpful. But when reading disappears, students often struggle to build the structured understanding needed for FAA evaluations, oral questioning, and real-world decision-making.
So I built the program I wish more students, me included, had from the start, a publications-first ground school that teaches you how to use FAA primary references, with structured reading as the foundation, reinforced through video, audio, and targeted quizzes. The goal isn’t to memorize answers, it’s to understand the why, retain it over time, and be able to explain it clearly and use that knowledge when it matters.
To bring reading back in a way that actually sticks, I use FAA diagrams, clear visual breakdowns, and a bit of humor to improve retention. And instead of generic, passive lecture videos, the lessons are taught like a real class, with Lean as your instructor and Alex as your study buddy—asking questions, reacting, and highlighting the key points as the lesson unfolds. The format might feel a little old school at first, but it works, and that’s the most important.
